Use the number correctly

Regulatory AUM is not a universal measure of assets.

Regulatory assets under management

RAUM is a Form ADV measure calculated under regulatory instructions. It should be labeled with its filing date and should not be silently substituted for marketing AUM, total firm assets, or 13F reported value.

A defensible firm screen

Know which questions the filing can answer.

Who is the adviser?

Use legal names, CRD numbers, registration records, and locations to identify the firm before comparing it with similarly named organizations.

What did it report?

Keep client, employee, office, ownership, and regulatory AUM fields connected to the Form ADV filing and schedule that supplied them.

When was it true?

Show the filing date and applicable reporting context. A later amendment should extend the history rather than erase the earlier disclosure.

What remains unknown?

A public filing does not establish investment performance, current commercial AUM, product fit, or an endorsement. Those questions require other evidence.
