What IARD does
IARD provides a common electronic route for adviser filings used by federal and state regulators. It supports initial filings, annual updating amendments, other amendments, withdrawals, notice filings, and fee processing.
IARD vs. IAPD
| System | Audience | Role |
|---|---|---|
| IARD | Advisers and regulators | Submit and administer registration/reporting filings |
| IAPD | The public | Search public adviser records and documents |
What the distinction means for data users
A public database should not describe IARD and IAPD as independent adviser disclosures. The filed Form ADV is the source record; IARD is the filing infrastructure; IAPD is the public access layer. AUMSearch should record each role accurately.
